A website to take global film company to the next level

01 Challenge

To create a website that would take Storyman, an award-winning TV and video production company specialising in sport, to the next level. They wanted their website to perform better, look better, and showcase their award-winning work in a more professional, eye-catching way.

With recent successes including a campaign for Visit Britain (24 Hours in the UK) which won Best European Marketing Campaign, along with producing the official World Cup launch film for the England Women’s World Cup team, their new website needed to put Storyman in front of large, global organisations with powerful stories to share.

02 Approach

Workshop
We began with a workshop to understand the story behind Storyman, giving us insight into the brand’s priorities, objectives, audiences and desired design and tone of voice.

Designing the future
Style-tiles and style-scapes followed, showing the recommended visuals and navigation for the future website.

State-of-the-art accessibility
We built Storyman’s new website using Gatsby, a platform able to handle high quantities of high-quality video without compromising site speed. Then, WordPress was used as the back-end CMS, empowering Storyman with an accessible way to manage content themselves.

03 Outcome

Initial improvements are telling a great story:

  • Page one ranking: Branded search terms moved from page 8 to 1st position on page 1 in Google searches.
  • Increased website speed: Scoring between 90-100 on Google’s website speed testing.
